What We Do

Saint James Episcopal Church is part of the Diocese of New Jersey. Under the leadership of the Right Reverend William H. Stokes, D.D., The Diocese of New Jersey covers the lower two-thirds of the state. We are also part of the Episcopal Church, a Christian denomination that is primarily situated in the United States. The current Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church is the Most Reverend Michael B. Curry. As part of the Episcopal Church, our worship is based on the Book of Common Prayer. This centuries-old book unites Episcopalians in prayer, encouraging the idea that using words in common during worship helps to bind us together as Christians. Saint James Episcopal Church is also part of the Anglican Communion. This world-wide association of churches encompasses the Episcopal Church and the Church of England as well as many others.

Saint James Episcopal Church is embarking on a new journey of financial stewardship as we seek to make connections between our faith in God and our generosity of time, talent, and treasure. Please check out the letter and pledge card created for this special campaign. The completed pledge cards can be returned to the church at any time, both in person in the collection plate or by mail.

Committed to growing in our faith, we gather every Tuesday evening throughout the school year at 7 PM for Bible Study in the Church Office. During this one-hour weekly event, we study a variety of texts, sometimes including the readings assigned in the Revised Common Lectionary for the upcoming Sunday. Our time together ends by sharing the office of Compline, an opportunity to close our day in prayer. People of all degrees of familiarity with the Bible are encouraged to attend.

Dedicated to caring for our bodies as well as our souls, we offer a yoga class in the Parish Hall each week.  The Thursday morning class focuses predominantly on yoga. Please see the church calendar on our home page for the weekly schedule.

Every other Thursday evening, the local Kiwanis Club meets in the Parish Hall.

For the most up-to-date information on the activities at Saint James Episcopal Church, please see the calendar on our home page.
